Punishment demanded for leaked video of cadet killed after failing to open parachute
The cadet died during training in Champotón, Campeche.
Campeche. – The father of one of the cadet’s classmates who died in a parachute accident demanded that authorities punish the person who leaked the video of the young man’s fall.
It was through his Facebook account that user Fernando Sansores López asked for respect for the broadcast of the moment in which the victim fell.
“Secretary of the Navy, I am the father of a cadet from the heroic Naval Military School. I repudiate, reject, and categorically condemn the leak and dissemination of such a painful video and demand that the member of the Navy who recorded and leaked it be punished to the full extent of martial law, and that everything humanly possible be done to ensure its removal from social media,” Sansores López wrote.
According to national media, Emmanuel “N,” who was known as the “boy with steel wings,” died due to a parachute failure after jumping from a helicopter during training in Champotón, Campeche.
Fernando pointed out that the people who leaked the video have no idea of the “pain that is felt.”
“We were supporting the parents who were there at the time, watching with excitement, anguish, fear, and a host of mixed feelings as their children took their first leap, praying to God for their safe arrival on land.
“You have no idea how painful it is for a father to hear the heartbreaking cry of a mother who doesn’t know who it is; you have no idea how heartbreaking it is to talk to my son and feel the pain of losing a friend,” he wrote.
A video circulating on social media shows the moment when up to eight cadets were thrown from the helicopter, however, only Velázquez had trouble opening his parachute.
Witnesses to the accident expressed their concern about what happened, which was seen and heard in the clip that has caused a huge impact on the internet.
The family of the deceased reported that the wake would be held in the municipality of Tenancingo, State of Mexico.
